Queue-it protects Bilka.dk Holiday sales
The leading Danish retailer Bilka (part of Dansk Supermarked A/S) is using Queue-it’s virtual queue system to protect its webshop (bilka.dk) during the holiday season sales peaks. Whenever the webshop’s visitor volumes exceed the back-end capacity, the virtual queue is displayed to excess users. Shoppers who are within the shop’s capacity are able to browse and shop without slowdowns due to heavy traffic, as Queue-it only returns the appropriate user volume per time unit to Bilka’s website.
“The holiday season traffic can be quite unpredictable and heavy at times, even for major online retailers. We apply the virtual queue as an “insurance policy” on our shop, to make sure we are able to serve the absolute maximum number of visitors at any time. Those customers, who do end up in line during a massive peak, are provided with specific and accurate information about the situation, and can make an informed decision about whether to wait around or try later”, says Søren Gundtoft Johansen, Programme manager, E-Commerce. He continues “Our motivation for using Queue-it’s services on Bilka.dk is to prevent revenue loss during slowdowns or crashes, and to provide an improved customer experience during peak times.”
