In 2011, Pingdom and other website monitoring services reported extended website failures during one of the greatest revenue periods for the online flowershops. As Pingdom reported last year, Americans alone spent $18.6 billion on Valentine’s Day gifts.

If you have ever experienced a seasonal sale actually causing your website and shop to crash when users rush to your site, you are aware of the monetary and image losses that result from shop failure. Moving on to the next shop is just so much easier online, and customer loyalty is only as good as the last experience.

The good news is that there is still time to prepare your shop for the Valentine’s Day season, to make sure you get the most revenue out of your potential customers.

All you really need is to implement the Queue-it SafetyNet feature before the customer rush really kicks in.

Our SafetyNet will constantly monitor your website, and auto-queue excess users when site capacity threshold is exceeded. This means that end-users within site capacity limits (the volume your site would normally be able to handle) do not see queue numbers.

At this point you may think that it is too late, too complicated, or too expensive… well, it’s not.

Too late?
The process of signing up and implementing SafetyNet on your website is completed within minutes. Sure, there are several ways you can refine your application of the virtual queue to protect your online revenue, but in the basic form, the software service is implemented almost instantly.

Too complicated?
Any webmaster or editor can actually implement Queue-it without any consulting assistance. All you need to do is add a few bits of HTML to your CMS. Our user-friendly self service interface makes the set-up of queue parameters easy, and our support staff is ready to assist, if you run into questions.

Too expensive?
Ask yourself this: How much revenue do I lose if my shop fails at the peak shopping hour? Your answer is likely to more than justify our competitive pricing plan. You can even try out the service for free.

So, what’s holding you back? We are always curious to learn your thoughts – even the critical ones!

Is your website an integrated part of your disaster contingency plan? For most government and large organizations, the answer is probably (or at least it should be) yes!

Online crisis information is becoming increasingly important in connection with disaster communication – it is an effective way of reaching masses of citizens, and people will tend to check the website of the company or authority involved for further details, when they become aware of a crisis situation.

So far, so good. However, did you consider how well your website will actually respond under the extreme user pressure of a disaster, far exceeding normal load levels? How sure are you that the capacity will hold up and not crash at the critical moment? Can you guarantee that it can keep citizens informed at all times, without slowdowns or failure? What is your “Plan B” if the user load is, say, 300% above your capacity limit?

Here’s what we came up with: Crisis Management by Queue-it

Crisis Management by Queue-it is a simple, yet effective solution based on a combination of our virtual queue system and a cloud-based caching site.

The service is implemented by completing two steps:

Prepare a disaster subsite to your existing website with as much generic disaster information as possible (use your existing CMS)

Implement Queue-it’s JavaScript protection on your website

Your website is now ready to handle a disaster. In the event of a crisis, all you need to do is to update your disaster subsite with the current crisis information.

If the disaster draws too many citizens to your website, they will be directed straight to your disaster subsite, as soon as they try to access your main website. On the disaster subsite, you may link back to your main website, where citizens will be queued up, if the number of visitors exceed the capacity of your main website.

We keep your disaster subsite running at all times by placing a cached copy, which is constantly updated, in our cloud computing environment. Your main website is protected by “filtering” visitors, and by activating the queue system, whenever the number of citizens wanting to access your main site exceeds capacity.

Contact us for further information or to speak to a Crisis Management customer reference.
