Multiple queues
Multiple queues (lines) can be implemented as:

  • Parallel queues with the purpose of discriminating one group of users ahead of others. This concept is e.g. known from airline business, where VIP type customers can use limited and dedicated lines with high throughput
  • Sequential queues with the purpose of throttling two specific points in a flow. As an example, you have two sequential queues in a number of major airports in the security flow, one before you enter the security waiting area and a number of queues at each security check

Parallel and sequential queues can be implemented and handled individually or combined in any pattern.
